Top 10 Halloween Candy

Top 10 All-Time Best Halloween Candy

I share my favorite Halloween candy of all-time. You will find delicious favorites, classics and hard-to-find Halloween candy in my list of favorites.

While I no longer go out trick-or-treating, I am always tempted by the grocery store aisles stocked with all of the delicious Halloween candies this time of year. From the chocolatey treats to over-the-top sweets, Halloween is a great time of year to enjoy some candy.

I know what my favorite candies are and will list them below, but I wanted to first see how my favorites stack-up against what’s trending around the United States.

I came across an article on CandyIndustry.com that looked at sales data for candy from around the United States. They created a list of the top 10 candy and the top candy by state. You can view the full list here, but for reference I included their top 10 list to better compare to my personal favorites.

#1 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

I definitely agree with the top choice, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. They are absolutely delicious and are my favorite candy. I always get them mixed in with my Blizzards at Dairy Queen, so they definitely top my favorite Halloween candy list.

#2 Wild Berry & Sour Skittles

I will slot Skittles as my number two. However, it has to be the Wild Berry or Sour Skittles. The original Skittles flavors just don't do it for me anymore. The tough part is finding Wild Berry or Sour skittles in the fun-sized bags of mixed Halloween candy. It always seems to be the red bag. The snack size bags definitely help limit consumption of these fruity treats.

#3 Reese's Pieces

Reese's Pieces would be my third favorite Halloween candy. I always grab a bag at the movie theater to enjoy. These bite sized peanut butter and chocolate candies remind me of the flavorful cup variety, but have a nice chocolatey crunch.

#4 Trolli Gummy Worms

Coming in at number four has got to be sour gummy worms with the most popular brand being Trolli. They taste much like gummy bears, but with a little extra sweet. They are chewy and delicious.

#5 Willy Wonka Oompas

Rounding out the top five is a Willy Wonka branded candy that is difficult to find online as it has been discontinued. Oompas are a fruity candy with a slight crunch, but mostly chewy flavor. I used to enjoy them in High School when they could be found at most grocery stores. To be honest, this may be a nostalgic pick as I haven't had this candy in well over fifteen years now.

#6 Sour Patch Kids

I'm going back to the list above and giving Sour Patch Kids as my sixth favorite Halloween Candy. They are sweeter than the sour gummy worms and much fruitier. These chewy candies are a favorite of my younger sister so we always have a bag in our pantry.

#7 Snickers

My next pick hopefully won't make you hangry, because their commercial clearly suggests Snickers bars satisfies your hangry (hungry) pangs. You can never go wrong with a candy that combines chocolate and caramel. Snickers mixes in some peanuts and nougat to make this a delicious treat. This is a tough candy to give out to trick-or-treaters during the Halloween season as some may have peanut allergies, so have some Milky Way bars on standby.

That about covers the candy I would agree with from the America's favorite candy list.

#8 AirHeads

Moving along to number eight on my list, I'll go with AirHeads. They come in a variety of fruity flavors with Watermelon being one of my favorites. Like Oompas, I haven't tried AirHeads in some time so they may be just another nostalgia pick.

#9 Butterfinger

Sticking with the peanut butter candy theme, I'll go with Butterfinger candy bars at number nine. The soft chocolate outer layer gives way to a crunchy and chewy inner peanut butter flavored core. They are definitely my second Dairy Queen Blizzard choice if they are out of Reese's cups.

#10 Rolo

Walmart.com
as of March 15, 2024 1:58 pm

To complete my top 10 Halloween candy favorites list, I'll go with a simple classic, Rolo. As I've stated earlier in this list, chocolate and caramel make a great pairing. The chewy caramel center of the Rolo is delicious with the chocolate. It is one of my favorites that I tend to forget about, but will always grab a roll if spotted while candy shopping.

Every person has different tastes and preferences, so every Halloween candy list is going to differ on a few of the candies. However, you will definitely find a lot of overlap with your favorites and what others enjoy.

I would love to hear your favorite Halloween candy or candy in general. Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
